Tissupath prides itself on the quality of work we are able to provide our clincians, but we also strongly believe in providing an affordable service.

This balance has become increasingly difficult due to the Government’s freeze on Medicare rebates for pathology items since 2000.

While dramatic advancements in diagnostic pathology mean that we can offer clinicians much more detailed reports about their patients results to aid in patient care and treatment, these advancements come at a cost that has far surpassed the rebate offered by the Government to process these results.

TissuPath's billing terms are as follows:

  • Only full Commonwealth Aged Pensioners, Disability Pensioners, and DVA gold card holders are billed directly through Medicare (‘bulk billed’) and will not see an account
  • We maintain billing agreements with most major health funds (click here to view participating health funds) so most insured inpatients will not receive a bill.
  • Fees for services outside these groups (out-patients, patients with non-participating health funds and privately funded/non-insured patients) are set at AMA rates.

We are very conscious of the importance of informed financial consent and can  provide easy-to-use fee tables to your practice staff upon request.
