Account Information

When your doctor sends your specimen to TissuPath for assessment by one of our pathologists, they are requesting an additional specialist medical opinion and so you may receive a separate account from TissuPath.

Your Account

Your TissuPath account and any ‘out-of-pocket’ expense is dependent on several things:

  • The type of procedure – This includes the number of specimens received by our lab and assessed by our pathologists and the ‘complexity’ of those specimens (the ‘complexity’ level of a specimen roughly equates to the amount of time and materials required for thorough assessment and reporting).
  • Where you had your procedure –
    • Hospital admittance (“In-patient”)– If you had a procedure in a hospital or accredited day care facility and you are:
      • Privately insured – No Gap Health Funds.
        • If you belong to one of TissuPath’s affiliated health funds (click here to see list), we will bill your health fund directly. You will not receive an account and will not incur any out-of-pocket expense.
      • Privately insured – Gap Health Funds.
        • If you belong to a insurance provider that does not have an agreement with TissuPath, there will be a ‘gap’ or ‘out-of-pocket’ fee payable. An invoice will be sent to you for payment.  You will be able to use your payment receipt to make a claim with Medicare and your insurer for a rebate on any eligible pathology tests.
      • Self funded
        • You will receive an invoice from our office for your pathology tests.  You will be able to use your payment receipt to make a claim with Medicare for a rebate on any eligible pathology tests.
    • Radiology Clinic & Doctor’s rooms
      • You will receive an invoice from our office for your pathology tests.  You will be able to use your payment receipt to make a claim with Medicare for any eligible pathology tests.

Medicare will provide a rebate on most of the pathology tests we perform at TissuPath.  If a test will be required that is not on the Medicare Rebate list you will be advised and your consent to proceed with this test will be required.

Commonwealth Aged Pensioners and DVA gold card holders are billed directly through Medicare (‘bulk billed’) and will not see an account.

The administration team at TissuPath are happy to discuss your account or any account enquiries you may have and can be contacted on (03) 9543 6111.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is the double-lock door for online security that lets you log into your account that has sensitive data of your patients only after passing through two sets of verification processes.

MFA adds an extra layer of security by prompting a second method of authentication alongside the traditional method of signing in with your username and password. This ensures that each login is secure because access will not be granted without your consent.

By asking for an extra verification factor, MFA enhances the security posture of your organization and greatly reduce the odds of data leakages of patient data.
