TissuPath Services for Urologic Surgeons

TissuPath provides the full range of uropathology services, from review and reporting of biopsies to processing and evaluation of large surgical specimens such as radical nephrectomies.

TissuPath's uropathology services are provided by our Uropathology Group, all of whom have specialty training and experience in evaluating urology specimens. In addition, through our in-house Quality Assurance (QA) program, we aim to ensure that there is consistency of reporting diagnostic criteria, such as the Gleason score, across the uropathology group.

TissuPath provides colour gross and/or microscopic photographs of specimens, appropriately annotated, to ensure that you (and the patient, if you wish) have a full understanding of the pathology. In addition, for radical prostatectomy specimens, we also provide prostate cancer volumetrics; two copies of this report are provided, one formatted for you and the other suitable for showing to the patient.

We have recently implemented specialist immunohistochemical testing for MUC1 and ZAG proteins, which have been shown to be predictive of outcome in prostate cancer (independent of known factors such as Gleason score)

TissuPath also understands that you and the patient want diagnostic information back as quickly as possible. For biopsies, if we receive the specimens before 20:00 weekdays we will almost always have the report back on your "desk" (whether a physical or electronic one!) by the following weekday morning. Because of the fixation requirements for larger specimens, you will generally receive the report within 2-4 days.
