As a result, our fees are generally somewhat higher than the relevant Medicare rebate.

Most health insurance companies will fund small difference between our fees and the Medicare rebate. A few companies do not provide adequate reimbursement for specialist pathology testing, and in these instances the patient will be liable for the difference, which will in virtually all cases be less than $100. 

Some of our services, despite being of fully-established benefit to the patient, are not Medicare rebateable; in this instance, we must recoup the full cost from the patient.

If you intend to use TissuPath for your histopathology or cytogenetics testing, we would appreciate your advising the patient about TissuPath's histopathology and cytopathology fees in advance, and the reasons for our fees being higher than the Medicare rebate.
