TissuPath Services for Breast Surgeons & Oncologists

TissuPath provides the full range of breast surgical services, from review and reporting of FNA specimens and biopsies to processing and evaluation of large surgical specimens such as radical mastectomies. In addition we also do routine immunohistochemical staining for estrogen and progesterone expression, and TissuPath is one of only a handful of laboratories in Victoria certified to provide CISH and FISH testing of breast cancers for Her-2/neu gene amplification.

TissuPath's breast cancer pathology services are provided by our Breast Pathology Group, all of whom have specialty training and experience in evaluating breast cancer specimens. In addition, through our in-house Quality Assurance (QA) program, we aim to ensure that there is consistency of diagnostic criteria across the breast pathology group, such that reporting by any one of our three pathologists will be consistent with reporting by other members of the group.

TissuPath provides a Synoptic Report, summarizing all relevant information about the case; with colour gross and/or microscopic photographs of specimens, appropriately annotated, to ensure that you (and the patient, if you wish) have a full understanding of the pathology. Click here for an example.

TissuPath also understands that you and the patient want diagnostic information back as quickly as possible. For biopsies, if we receive the specimens before 20:00 weekdays we will almost always have the report back on your "desk" (whether a physical or electronic one!) by the following weekday morning; follow-up IHC or CISH testing may take an additional few days. Because of the fixation requirements for larger specimens, you will generally receive the report within 2-4 days.
