TissuPath Cytogenetic Services for Obstetricians, Obstetric Ultrasonographers, Pediatricians and Other Specialists

TissuPath provides the full range of cytogenetic services, from karyotyping of fetal, pediatric and adult specimens to FISH or CISH testing (as appropriate) of similar specimens.

TissuPath's cytogenetic services are provided by our Cytogeneticists, all of whom have specialty training and experience in cytogenetics. All of our senior cytogeneticsts in addition are certified by the Human Genetics Society of Australiasia. In addition, through our in-house Quality Assurance (QA) program, we ensure that there is consistency of cytogenetic diagnostic criteria amongst our cytogeneticists.

In selected cases, TissuPath provides karyotype photographs appropriately annotated, to ensure that you (and the patient, if you wish) have a full understanding of the abnormality.

TissuPath also understands that you and the patient want diagnostic information back as quickly as possible. For emergency FISH testing, we can provide 24hr turnaround Monday – Saturday, excluding public holidays. Karyotyping can take from 1-2 weeks, depending on the specimen. This delay is due to the fact that karyotyping requires that the patient's cells be grown in culture, and the growth rate of those cells is largely determined by the patient's genetics rather than our skill at tissue culture.
